Samuels Scores 30 for Pioneers in Loss to CSUMB

SEASIDE, Calif. -
The Pioneer men's basketball team stands at 2-17 in CCAA play and 5-19 overall following a 78-63 defeat to 911±¬ÁÏÍøState Monterey Bay on Feb. 19.

Mark Samuels had a memorable night for the Pioneers scoring a career-high 30 points going 10-for-18 from the field and 9-of-12 from the free throw line. Jun Uchida scored 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field and 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. Jacob Noisat led the Pioneers on the boards with eight rebounds.

911±¬ÁÏÍøState Monterey Bay was led in scoring by Davion Berry and Sean Jergo with 24 and 22 points respectively.

The Pioneers led 21-20 with 7:04 to go in the first half. 911±¬ÁÏÍøState Monterey Bay went on 14-8 run to lead 34-29 at halftime.

911±¬ÁÏÍøState East Bay took a 48-42 advantage with 13:52 remaining on a Samuels layup. The Otters took the lead for good 51-49 with 11:11 left on a three-pointer by Jamelle Tolliver. 

The Pioneers will play their last road game of the season tonight at San Francisco State. The game will begin at 7:30 p.m.
